We can't always see everything that our dogs are getting into or everything that's getting into our dogs' fur, so it's important to check for ticks after every adventure. These dangerous little critters especially like to latch on in hard-to-see areas like behind and under ears, between toes, even in our dogs' armpits!

Now, I'm not gonna pretend I bathe my dog everyday... that wouldn't be good for her skin. We do, however, get HELLA muddy EVERY SINGLE DAY. My trick? Wait for the mud to dry and use a stiff bristle brush to comb it away all the dirt🥰 This prevents matting and hidden health issues, but make sure to go over sensitive areas with a warm, wet towel to prevent infection💕🐾🐾

Another thing I like to do at the start of each adventure is explore the whole area we are going to be in on-leash before we do any off-leash training or play. Until she is two years old, any off-leash time with Waffles is always intentional training or playtime😍🐶🐾🐾

Before heading out for the day, I always want to make a mental checklist of who is active in the forest where I live right now. Given the types of businesses in the area, most predator sightings are farther than 10 miles out, but that doesn't mean we are going to take chances, especially when there are curious fawns, litters of bunnies and families of birds that are all going to be very challenging distractions for an impulsive puppy to ignore. Today we are definitely leashing up🥰🐶🐾💕
