Ok, wow. I just got ANOTHER dog! I found this hungry baby on the side of a country road not 20 minutes after I post that about it being a good time to adopt a dog. I saw him wandering on the side of the road, clearly very skinny and a baby. No houses nearby, no food to scavenge anywhere. No fresh water nearby. I stopped and he ran away across the road and hid in the bushes. He barked while letting out pathetic puppy cries as he tried to be tough. I threw him a couple of bites of smoked meat leftover from my lunch. He inhaled them and then took bites from my hand. I grabbed him and he covered me with kisses as he cried. He hugged into me so hard. I would never leave a baby like that or any dog so in the truck he went. He snuggled me all of the way home, hard.. his little head pressed into me. The new dog and Kiki were unsure but friendly. He has already gotten a bath, hydration and a first small meal. I estimate he's between 4-5 months. Still has some puppy teeth. Well I didn't expect this but I'm going to make it work. Chick pics coming next. I'm so tired. It's already after 9pm and I haven't started dinner yet.

It's never been more peaceful and quiet in my neighborhood. We don't see many people or cars on our walks so it gave her a good transition period. I have been stressed lately (haven't we all) and being around her means I check my negative energy at the door. I only bring her a calm, at-peace version of myself. I sit and calmly pet, scratch and massage her. This all brings me peace at a time when I need it too. Her smiles are so rewarding. They bring me such a big smile. Being kind to others is so important right now. Just doing something, whatever you can, for anyone or anything else can bring you a sense of peace a joy. We all need that peace and joy more than ever. If you can afford to maybe consider adopting a new friend. Many need it.

First pic of my new dog! A week ago she was at the shelter and now she's snacking on bacon! She loves her quail egg covered dog food at every meal. She doesn't even want the dog food without quail eggs on it. 🙂 Spoiled already. She's so gentle and sweet. I've not posted much since I was waiting for the positive behavior changes to start happening. She was incredibly scared on Tuesday when I got her from the shelter. She had been there at least two months they said. She didn't even want to be pet. Totally fearful. Pulling away on leash when I walked her. It was really sad to see. She found a safe spot inside my house and hid there a lot for the first couple of days. She's now moved onto a dog bed more in the open. Yesterday she was finally laying on her side taking a nap. That is big progress. She was so scared before that she slept curled in a ball. She's now approaching me with hand kisses when I enter the room. Big progress. I didn't want to tell you about it until she had a positive turn. No one needs another sad story to read right now. Hers will have a happy ending though. She's going to be just fine with a lot of rest and love. I imagine she hasn't slept well at the noisy shelter so she'll probably need a lot of good sleep. I'll take her to the pasture today, but not off leash yet. It will be overwhelming for her at first but with more trips there she will learn that it's a safe place. This will be our first outing aside from walks. My coffee is ready, time to go!
